The balance of payments of RA is compiled according to the methodology of the 6th edition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) balance of payments and national investment position manual (https://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/bop/2007/pdf/bpm6.pdf). |
| Scope and classifications: |
The balance of payments of the Republic of Armenia is compiled on the basis of reports collected from financial organizations, as well as information received from various departments of the Republic of Armenia. The RA Statistical Committee is the main partner agency supporting the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia in the preparation of the balance of payments. The balance of payments is a statistical report that shows all economic transactions between residents and non-residents over a period of time. The main principles of the balance of payments are the principles of residency, accrual, and double registration. |
| Revision: |
Conducting external sector statistics, the Central Bank of Armenia regularly carries out improvement works on the items forming the balance of payments, which are reflected in the annual revisions of external sector statistics (as a rule, at the end of June of each year). Current revisions mainly refer to the current year and are caused by data adjustments by reporting entities. It is necessary to note that some items need periodic review and additional research is constantly being carried out on them. |
