What do we regulate

We regulate.

  1. The activity of payment service providers. We play a pivotal role in authorizing both banks and non-bank payment institutions, ensuring they adhere to regulations aimed at maintaining the integrity and stability of Armenia's financial sector. We define specific requirements tailored to the diverse landscape of payment service providers, fostering a level playing field while safeguarding consumers' interests.
  2. The operation of payment and settlement systems. Our central focus is on minimizing risks to financial stability, which is why we meticulously outline requirements for Armenian payment and settlement systems. Moreover, we meticulously oversee the involvement of our banks and payment institutions in foreign payment systems, ensuring alignment with Armenian legislation while protecting against systemic vulnerabilities. By doing so, we contribute to fostering trust and reliability in both domestic and cross-border transactions.
  3. The provision of payment services. We are dedicated to establishing robust frameworks that govern the delivery of payment services by banks and payment institutions. This entails not only regulating the range of payment instruments they offer, such as payment cards and electronic money, but also ensuring that these services prioritize security, transparency, and consumer protection. We strive to foster trust in the payment ecosystem, enabling both individuals and businesses to conduct transactions securely and with assurance.
