Brief

The Republic of Armenia, represented by the Financial Monitoring Center (FMC), actively contributes to the efforts of various international organizations and structures dedicated to the development of AML/CFT international standards and the global implementation and enforcement of these standards. Armenia holds a full member status in the Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) and an observer's status in the Eurasian Group on Combating Money-Laundering and Terrorism Financing (EAG). These entities, operating under the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), are recognized as Financial Action Task Force (FATF) style regional bodies with the goal of ensuring the implementation and enforcement of FATF's 40 recommendations and 9 special recommendations in member states.

Additionally, the Republic of Armenia has been a member of the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units since 2007. This membership facilitates collaboration with financial intelligence units from approximately 120 countries, enabling information exchange through a secure system. It also provides opportunities to contribute to the management of the Group and participate in plenary sessions and working group meetings.

Under existing legislation, the FMC is vested with the authority to cooperate and coordinate with the aforementioned international organizations and structures, as well as other bodies operating in the AML/CFT domain.
