The 1st series of Armenian banknotes was put into circulation on November 22, 1993.
Until March 17, 1994, the 1961-1992 series of Soviet banknotes of 1-ruble to 500-ruble denomination were also in temporary circulation. with an exchange rate of 1 dram for 200 rubles.
