The Governor of the Central Bank participated in a research conference co-organized by the IMF and the American University in Cairo, Egypt

On May 18-19 of 2025, the Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia Martin Galstyan participated in the inaugural research conference titled “Steering Macroeconomic and Structural Policies in a Shifting Global Economic Landscape”, which was co-organized by the International Monetary Fund and the the Onsi Sawiris School of Business at The American University in Cairo, Egypt.

The conference brought together world-renowned international and regional academics, researchers, and policymakers who discussed and exchanged ideas on issues related to global economic and policy implementation. Strengthening economic research capacities in ministries of finance and central banks of the countries in the region was among the goals of the conference.

Governor Martin Galstyan spoke at the conference at the Closing Panel, moderated by Nigel Clarke (IMF Deputy Managing Director), together with Francois Bourguignon (Paris School of Economics), Barry Eichengreen (UC Berkeley), and Youssef Boutros-Ghali (Member of Specialized Council for Economic Development, Egypt), addressing topics related to fiscal and monetary policies, financial stability, industrial policy, green transition, artificial intelligence, and the future of jobs.

During the panel discussion, Martin Galstyan also talked about the new analytical framework FPAS Mark II (Forecasting and Policy Analysis System), which was introduced at the Central Bank of Armenia in early 2024 to support the monetary policy implementation – a development that received high praise from the participants.
