C A N C E R
| This silver commemorative coin depicting Cancer has been issued by the Central Bank of Armenia
under the International Program “The Signs of Zodiac”. Cancer is the fourth sign of
Zodiac, a northern constellation between Gemini and Leo. The sign of Cancer stems from one of the
12 Trials of Heracles. According to Greek mythology Hera sent a giant crab to distract Heracles
while he was battling the Hydra. The crab was only a nuisance, and Heracles simply crashed the crab
under his foot just before he defeated the Hydra. Hera honored the crab’s attempt at stopping
her most hated of Zeus’s children by placing it amongst the stars. The astrological period
called Cancer takes the period from June 22 to July 22. The coin issued with colored inks and
zircon. Designed by U. Walerzak. Minted in the Mint of Poland. |
